Our Philosophy

We view birth as a very special, beautiful, and sacred event. We want each woman to have positive feelings and memories concerning her birth experiences. As doulas, we will be at a woman's side to provide knowledge and emotional support while respecting her decisions. We recognize the importance of the woman's partner during her pregnancy and birth and will help make everyone involved feel as comfortable as possible. We would be honored to work with you and your family in achieving your birth goals.

Birth has been my passion ever since I attended my first one at the age of 16. I was captivated by the beauty of the entire birth process. I was blessed to attend many friends and families births after that.

Hi! My name is Serena. I am married to a wonderful man named Lance, and I have 3 beautiful children named Aspen, Bryson, and Sierra.

When I had my own children I had never heard the term "doula," but I had three aunts that acted as my doulas. I would never want to give birth without them. My husband was wonderful, and I wanted him at my side at all times. But there was something special about being surrounded and cared for by other women during birth.

With my first baby, my water was broken in order to start labor. I labored all night and delivered her after 2 hours of pushing and suction applied. With my second baby, my water broke at home. I started contracting within the hour. I stayed home as long as possible, then delivered my son within 3 hours of being admitted to the hospital. With my 3rd child I started contracting early one morning. My husband, aunts, and I spent the day shopping and going to lunch. When I was admitted to the hospital I was 5 cm dilated. My daughter turned the wrong way at the last second and I remained at 9 cm for 2 more hours. This was a crucial time for me to have my "doulas". With their help and encouragement, plus using different positions, I got through it and delivered a very healthy baby girl.

When I realized there was such a thing as a doula, I knew I had found my calling. I took the training in 2003 and have been a practicing doula ever since.

I believe that every woman is entitled to have her best possible birth experience. She has the right to choose how to birth her children, where to birth them and whom to have present. She should learn to trust her body in the birth process and dispel any myths or misconceptions she may have. She should be taught the risks and benefits of interventions and medications available and commonly used. This information should empower her to choose the kind of birth that is best for her, be it medicated or un-medicated, with or without intervention.

I love my work and am honored to work with each and every family. I would love to support you and your family in this exciting journey.

The birth of my children has taken me on the amazing and incredible path of childbirth. My name is Stephanie and I am happily married to my husband Isaac and I have four children: Sierra, Savannah, Colt and Cade. I have given birth five times and have grieved the death of a daughter, born premature.

My strong belief of having a doula present began when I became pregnant with my first daughter. As a woman, I wanted my birthing experience to be "my way." I wanted to be non-medicated and use walking, water and positioning as my labor progressed. My first three childbirth experiences were wonderful. Unfortunately, my fourth child was premature and in a transverse position (laying sideways.) We tried everything to progress naturally but in the end we decided that a cesarean was necessary due to fetal distress.

I decided to become a doula because I wanted to help women have a positive childbirth experience by providing the emotional and physical nurturing needed in all aspects of the process. I attended college and have a background in nursing as well as extensive laboratory skills. I love my job in a Denver OBGYN office because it has allowed me to gain new experiences in childbirth each and every day. I have attended several births of family, friends and patients of the physician I work for. I hope to help you achieve your ideal birth experience, whether it's medicated or non-medicated. I believe that every woman deserves to make her own decisions when it comes to childbirth and I will do everything possible to ensure that your birth experience is how you envision it to be.
